Really, George W. has nothing to do with it. All the credit and thanks…I am giving to my Mighty God!!!
Now I know what you all must be thinking! George Bush has EVERYTHING to do with it. He issued the stimulus checks and gave every tax paying American the beautiful gift of getting some of our tax money back. But by understanding my circumstance would mean giving all the glory to GOD!!
The trusty old Honda…1999 Honda Accord, starting acting a bit strange on Saturday. When I say strange, I mean the dash board was lighting up and flashing like a Christmas tree, the radio stopped working, the gears were sticking and the dashboard gages were “flat-lined”….showing no life what so ever. On Monday morning I attempted to take it to work (Someone there had a friend who was going to look at it and try to fix it for cheep!). I had no idea what the problem was, so I nervously agreed to drive it the 10 miles or so to Carrabba’s. Well….3 miles down the road, in the middle of the biggest intersection this side of Charleston, the Honda stalled, leaving me stranded in the middle of the road. EMBARRASSED!!!! Luckily no one in Charleston honks at you…they just stop to see if you need help! Thanks be to God…when the stoplight turned back to red…who was stopped beside me but a trusty ol’ Goose Creek cop!! (Thank you GOD!!!)
So long story short, after trying to jump it and it stalling again, we had it towed to a nearby garage. After diagnosing the problem, we learned that the alternator was caput. To your suprise…we were happy!! We were just glad it wasn’t the computer system. We lucked out. 
$425 and 45 minutes later, the Honda was purring like a kitten. What a great car she has been. All 205,000 miles of her.
So here is where the debate b/w God and George W. comes in. Sure, everyone got a check and I know it wasn’t like God was sitting up on his mighty throne devising a plan to somehow assure that I somehow come into a large sum of money and then just decide to cut all Americans a break…but maybe he did! What I am thinking is that He probably just held my car together long enough for us to get the money to fix it. Had this happened 2 months ago…no money. Had we not gotten the stimulus check…no money. We could have been in trouble. But now we are not.
Basically I am using this post to glorify God and to publicly thank HIM for providing for me and my family. I don’t know what you guys did with your extra money, but hopefully it came at a time when you needed it most. And you don’t think things like this are a coincidence do you?
